Starting 2026 with Strength and Balance

We made it. 2025 is behind us, and as I look back on another year of meeting families and visiting homes across the Bay Area, I’m struck by one thing: The foundation of any beautiful home isn't the stone, it’s the people who live within its walls.
As we kick off 2026, I wanted to step away from the blueprints and the Jobs for a moment to share a few "New Year" thoughts on something more important than construction, Your health and happiness. Building a legacy, as we’ve tried to do here at GLF for three generations, requires a solid foundation. Here are a few ways I’m looking to strengthen my own foundation this year, and I hope they inspire you too.

1. Mental & Spiritual Health: Find Your "Stillness"
Our world moves fast, and the Bay Area moves even faster. This year, I encourage you to find your version of a sanctuary. Whether it’s a quiet cup of coffee before the house wakes up, a walk along the cliffs in Santa Cruz, or five minutes of deep breathing, give your mind a moment to be still. Peace of mind is the ultimate luxury.

2. Physical Health: Movement is Life
In the trades, we know that if a machine doesn't move, it rusts. Our bodies are the same. You don’t need to run a marathon, just keep moving. Take advantage of the beautiful coast we live on. A simple daily walk by the ocean isn't just exercise, it’s a reset for your entire system.

3. Financial Health: The Power of Maintenance
Financial stress is heavy. One of the best ways to combat it is through the "little and often" approach. Just like we maintain our homes to avoid big repair bills, look at your finances with a steady hand. Focus on quality over quantity and long-term value over short-term trends. A stable foundation today leads to a worry-free tomorrow.

4. Relational Health: Build to Last
If there’s one thing 40 years in business has taught me, it’s that relationships are everything. This year, let’s resolve to be a little more present with our families, a little kinder to our neighbors, and more connected to our community. The strongest "mortars" in life are kindness and presence. My hope for you in 2026 is that you feel grounded, healthy, and full of purpose. May your home be a place of rest, and may your year be filled with the kind of solid, lasting joy that stands the test of time.

From my family to yours, have a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year.
